There is a version of this that most people will recognise: you are waiting for someone to tell you that you're ready. To give you the go-ahead. To confirm that you're allowed to do the thing you want to do.

You are waiting for the job title, the qualification, the track record, the financial milestone, the age, the approval of the right person. You are waiting for external confirmation that you have earned the right to proceed.

Here is the uncomfortable truth: that permission is not coming. Not in the form you're expecting it. The world does not appoint people to pursue their potential. It does not issue certificates of readiness. The gate you are waiting to be let through is one that only opens from your side.

The qualification you need most is not on any course. It is the decision to begin treating yourself as the person you want to become — now, before you've fully arrived there. To start acting as if your ideas deserve to be heard. To start claiming the space you have been waiting to be given.

Nobody is coming. This is both the hardest thing to accept and, once accepted, the most liberating. Because it means you don't have to wait. You can stop asking for permission that was never going to arrive anyway. And you can start.
